Player, South Africa’s Best Golfer.

Gary Jim Player, or better known as Gary Player, was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on November 1, 1935. Gary Player is one of the world’s golfers whose skills are recognized as the greatest in the history of the game of golf. 

At the age of 29, Player won the US Open in 1965 and is the only non-American to win all rounds. Because of his achievements, Player earned the nickname career Grand Slam. Player became the third person to win a Grand Slam after Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen.

Player has won 165 tournaments on 6 continents over 6 decades, which is why he was awarded the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974. In addition, because of his brilliant achievements, Player has earned several nicknames, namely the Black Knight, Mr. Fitness, and International Ambassador of Golf. In addition to being a world-class golfer, Player also has many businesses related to golf.

All of his efforts were merged into Black Knight International. The Player Foundation that he owns has even assisted in education in underprivileged areas since 1983. The Foundation owned by Player has even helped establish the Blair Atholl School in Johannesburg in South Africa.

In 2008, the Player Foundation held charity golf events in London, Palm Beach, Shanghai, as well as Cape Town. The activity managed to raise money as much as 50 million dollars. On January 19, 1957, Player married Vivienne Verwey, with whom they had six children: Jennifer, Marc, Wayne, Michele, Theresa, and Amanda. The player also has about 21 grandchildren at this time.
